Using olive oil 7 days after hair transplant for dryness.

Question

I was advised by my HT doctor to use olive oil, 7 days after FUT Hair transplant, for dryness on the recipient and donor area. Is this okay? Will it affect the grafts?

Hello, please see the tips below. 
Washing your hair after a hair transplantation is an important step for restoration.  We usually have our patients start spraying hair with lactated ringers with liposomal ATP as well as other growth factors twice a day to help your hair process start ASAP.  Actual hair washing usually takes place several days after the procedure.  There are several advantages to this approach:

It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.  There is no medical reason why you should be using olive oil.

olive oil or any other oil is usually recommended to soften the scabs a week after over recipient area but not on donor area...for your donor you can apply any topical antibiotic ointment and gently massag..scabs will go away...
