How long does it take for a gluteal dehiscence to close? (photo)

In my experience of 12 years with butt implants and hundreds of surgeries, wound dehiscence is not common, though it is not rare. That is because either patients do not follow strictly post operative instruction as far as activity and wound care or sometimes an unfortunate move when the wound is still fresh and weak can open the wound. Most of the time the opening is superficial and  simple wound care is sufficient to close the wound within 2-3 weeks. Close supervision ( weekly visits ) by your surgeon is necessary to avoid deterioration. In your case it looks deep, though not infected. You need to be seen by your surgeon to possibly remove deep sutures that might prolong the healing. Sometimes wound revision with excision of the granulation tissue is helpful and bring copmlete healing even when there is partial implant exposure. Antibiotic coverage in that case is critical. Wound dehiscence by using a single intergluteal incision is common. That is why many surgeons use a variation of this incision.Once the wound is open it is very important to decide through examination if the implant is exposed. If so then that is a potential problem for implant contamination.You need to see your surgeon ASAP and together decide what is the best approach since he/she knows how the wound was closed and how far the implants are.
