Should I get liposuction or a Brazilian Butt Lift?

If you have no interest in augmenting the buttocks or hips, the liposuction alone would be appropriate.

With Brazilian butt lift, patients can look forward to a double benefit: reducing areas of unwanted fat while gaining a perkier, rounded posterior.  Each procedure must be planned according to the individual needs of patients, harvesting fat from target areas of the torso, thighs or knees and transferring it to create smooth, attractive contours optimized for each person. If you decide to do liposuction alone the fat that has been taken out will go to waste as it cannot be saved for a future surgery. With Brazilian butt lift we transfer fat from one area of the body to the other.  These fat cells are transferred in microinjections throughout multiple planes in the buttock tissue so that they can gain new blood supply and live in their new home, providing increased volume and shape to the buttocks.  Around 70% of fat that is grafted is typically expected to survive long term. We also put a little extra to account for loss of fat post operative, which is reabsorbed gradually by the body.That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety.  Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

 Thank you for your question. It is very difficult to give advice without seeing you. There are a number of factors you have to consider. First of all  do you have enough fat around your waist that allows a fat transfer. It is not true that a BBL when done properly will disappear after one year.  I would advise to research a doctor that offers the fat harvesting with the body jet system  this is a Liposuction method that uses a gentle water beam to wash out fat cells out of the subcutaneous  tissue.  You will however always experience some loss of fat cells which is  about 30% of the injected fat cells. Most of the loss will happen within the first three weeks.  after about a half a year there is no more change to be expected. Remember that if you lose weight you will lose more weight in the areas where the fat cells have been moved to then before. To achieve an hour glass figure the hip to waist ratio has to be changed. Doing a liposuction  can drastically reduce the waist but it will not be able to increase the butt size by itself, therefore the biggest change would be by doing a BBL. my advice look for a board-certified plastic surgeon that uses the buddy jet system for a fit harvesting and get a BBL. Hi Zobelle95 and thanks for posting.   Without pictures it is hard to give helpful information for YOU.  Depending on the body type, lipo alone can give an excellent result.  Fat transfer BBL would be "icing on the cake."  For other women the BBL portion can be just as important for shape.  Though not all of the fat that is transferred survives, the fat that is present at 4 to 6 weeks post op has been shown to last for years and years. Having liposuction or BBL will depend on the results you want. If you and want an hourglass shape liposuction may be an option and if you want to lift and augmentation of your butt a BBL is recommended.
