Would a body chemical peel help tinea versicolor?

I have tinea versicolor underneath the bra line and above my bellybutton that spread to either side of my body and on my lower back. I can't remember where but I heard that chemical peels might help? Is that true? Would the dead and dry skin just peel right off? I use selsun blue for my scalp so I use it on the spots every time I shower and I was prescribed 2% ketoconazole a long time ago but it has done nothing, the spots don't go away no matter what.
