I was told that vertical lengthening is not really addressed by a chin implant. I saw that implatech has a "vertical lenghening" implant. A) does anyone have any information about the results with this implant type? B) the picture attached was found online and the procedure was described is chin implant. Is it realistic? and what type of impant would have to be used to get this result?

Answer: Is it possible to achieve vertical length with chin implant? Hi and thanks for your question. A chin implant will not add to the vertical dimension and if this is your wish, a genioplasty might be more appropriate. Good luck. Dr. PG

Answer: Osseous genioplasty I advise radically against chin implants in general but much in particular for vertical lenghtening purposes.Yes, the implants are tempting for the chin, but the rate of mid and long term issues or complications, the lack of naturalness and the high rate of early removal make them neatly outscored by the osseous plasties of the chin; however... bone surgery of the chin is not comfortable for the surgeon, involves higher skills and requires experience.Osseous genioplasty is for a lifetime, absolutely natural, practiced by the best surgeons in every country, very safe, predictable and stable in time.Don't hesitate to seek the opinion of a surgeon experienced in this matter.

Answer: Vertical Lengthening Chin Implant Vertical cin lengthening by an implant can be done using either a standard vertical chin lengthening implant (which I designed) or a custom designed one. Which chin implant option is best for your needs depends on the exact dimensional changes that you are seeking. The standard vertical chin lengthening chin implant provides a simultaneous vertical and horizontal increase in chin projection. (45 degree angle change)

Chin implant are manufactured in a large variety of sizes and shapes, and can be custom carved according to the patient's unique anatomy.
