2 days after chin implant and still have a lot of pain and soreness???

Question

Had my chin implant on Monday and it is very difficult to eat I cannot chew at all or lick my lips or talk well without pain. I cant eat much which sucks because I need to eat in order to take pain meds. Is it normal to have these symptoms ??? and Will will the pain go away ?...... Is there a way to speed the process? I ice my cheeks and sides of my chin a little but I'm not swollen or anything the chin itself is what is giving me pain. any advice please !?!? don't want to be in pain thank you!!

As sensation returns after the surgery, your lower jaw will feel tight and sore from your body’s natural swelling response. It is at this point that you can take your pain medication, if necessary. You are encouraged to engage in light activity.If your implant was placed through an incision beneath your chin, the sutures (if they are not self dissolving) will be removed after 5–10 days. You will experience an odd sensation in your chin for a time while your nerves return to their normal function.Every patient has a different healing process. Give yourself some time to heal. Follow what your plastic surgeon has asked you to do. #chinimplant #chinimplantpostop

Yes, you should still expect to be sore 2 days post having a chin implant procedure. Continue on soft foods.

It is normal to have pain for several days following a chin implant procedure.  It is usually easier to have soft and liquid food for the first few days and the pain meds can be taken with that type of food.  The pain should start improving about 3-4 days after the surgery but it can take a bit longer for it to resolve completely.  If you do not feel that your pain is improving after a few more days, you should contact your surgeon.

Yes, this is normal.  Swelling and soreness peak at 72 hours after any surgical procedure.  By the 4th to 5th day, the swelling and soreness should go down.  Dr David Mueller
