What would be the consequences of having a septal extension graft removed? The stiffness is making me really uncomfortable so i was wondering what would be the consequences of having it removed in a revision (tip drop maybe?)

Hello and thank you for your question. A stiff tip is an unfortunate side effect of a septal extension graft. I have done many revisions in which I remove the SEG and replace it with a columellar strut graft. With good surgical technique, you could likely have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

The bottom of the nasal septum does have an effect on tip support and projection. Additionally, septal extension graft tend to add length to somebody's nose. If they are removed, a nasal appearance may shorten, or lead to a retracted columella. Thank you for this question. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
