I have performed breast augmentation on several fitness models and most received sub muscular implant placement. These women have continued to do serious weight training to maintain their body, and some even went on to win competitions. You probably won't have any trouble returning to weight lifting after your surgery.
If you have submuscular implants, you will have to wait a few weeks for full muscle healing before resuming weight training. You will also have to accept some brief shape change [dent in] when you flex your pectoral muscles. Most women do not notice this unless they develop their pecs to body builder level. Even then my one body builder submuscular implant patient loved her implants since when training her body fat got so thin a subglandular implant would have been more unnatural looking. So, have your surgery and your surgeon will let you know when you can resume training.
With minimal natural breast tissue, the most natural looking results would be from subpectoral implants. You won't have any negative effective on your strength, however when you flex there may be some implant distortion - not a guarantee but it's something you should know. This could be a concern in bodybuilding competitions.
I suggest at least 4 to 6 weeks before returning to the strenuous type of work that you are describing. Of course, every patient is different and you will need to “listen to your body” and gradually increase your activity/lifting level. Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific activities. In the long term, sub pectoral breast augmentation should not interfere with your weight training regimen. Patients will report that they feel/see the breast implants move as the pectoralis major muscle contracts during exercise ( this phenomenon is referred to as flexion or animation “deformity”).You may find the attached link, dedicated to patients involved in “competition”, interesting to you as you learn more.Best wishes.
The risk of problems is too high if you are currently breast feeding. Of all the potential problems that you could experience, having the implant bathed in milk leaking through the breast gland would be the worst in my opinion. Additionally, you may see further volume changes after...
Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. See the below link on some suggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for y...
Consult with your surgeon. I would recommend starting slowly. If you lift 100lbs start with 25 and build yourself up to your pre-surgery routine.Best Regards,Dr. Gartner
