Thank you for your question and photos. Dermal fillers can add volume to the lips while creating a more symmetrical shape that is harmonious with the rest of your facial features. These hyaluronic acid formulas can provide a rejuvenated and volumized appearance that may last for up to a year or more, depending on the formulas used. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector who can review your concerns and suggest the best option for you.
It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
The skilled use of appropriate HA fillers to enhance the body of the upper lip, as well as the vermilion borders of the angles of the mouth, as well as to add body to the angles can help to harmonize the proportion between the upper and lower lips and to widen the mouth. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.
Dear auroraj4ne,I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times. For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years. In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Lip fillers can help with asymmetry. You can go slowly and build up to the look you are wanting. I encourage you to visit with an expert injector to discuss your concerns. She/He can help with suggestions to bring your facial contours into better harmony.
It’s not your mouth that’s a symmetrical it’s your entire head. The mouth is in the midline and the asymmetry of your face is being detected because you’re not seeing the entire sides of the face as asymmetrical. All people have facial asymmetry. During embryological development both sides of the face develop independently from each other and eventually fused in the midline. in fact the entire body is highly asymmetrical with all the internal organs being placed on the left or the right and in different positions. both men and women have asymmetrical breasts, extremities, torsos and faces. The human brain is accustomed to seeing facial asymmetry as being normal. it is not accustomed to seeing symmetrical faces and for that reason computer-generated purely symmetrical faces tend to have an odd and less attractive appearance.Unless facial asymmetry is severe enough to be obvious it should not be treated.Attempts at asymmetrical treatment with things like lip fillers will simply create two asymmetries. Your mouth is not an anatomic structure that is without relationship to the rest of your face. muscles that control the position and movement of your mouth are anchored throughout your face.I recommend not treating your asymmetry. If you’d like to get lip fillers then those are popular and typically give very nice feminization and appeal when done correctly. they should however not be aimed at correcting a symmetry. Fillers give volume and I doubt your lips have volume asymmetry. The topic of facial asymmetry is actually quite fascinating. There is very little emphasis in teaching symmetry or asymmetry in plastic surgery training and many plastic surgeons are under the falls believe that facial symmetry is an aesthetic ideal. early in my career I was of that belief as well.By simply being observant and also conversing with providers I respect greatly I have come to accept asymmetry as it being inherently human, appropriate and attractive.I say that because I don’t like the look of perfectly symmetrical faces that are computer generated. that is the only way to see a symmetrical face since they don’t exist in real life. The only operation where creating symmetry is probably a standard all surgeons agreed-upon is breast surgery. Breast asymmetry can look obvious and again if the asymmetry is enough to be clearly visible where people recognize it without thinking it should probably be treated. Why are you recognize your asymmetry I question if anyone else does unless it’s been pointed out in advance.I bet you lots of people around you have the same degree of asymmetry that goes unnoticed by you.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Hello and thank you for your question. It is always best to see you face to face for a consult and examination however in this case a combination of botox and filler would likely be best. it's best to assess for this on movement so the fine movements of the mouth on expression can be seen more clearly. I hope that helps answer your question. Always seek an experienced and qualified medical professional for these treatments. Very best wishes
Hi Thanks for your question. The length of time you should wait to refill your lips with dermal fillers depends of several factors including the type of fillers used, the area treated. However , as general rule , it is recommended to wait at least 2 weeks after dissolving the filler with...
For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest...
Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, there is a well circumscribed apparent cystic mass involving your lower red lip involving the vermillion border. It may represent a cyst occurring at the site of a clogged oil gland and is prone to infection. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon...

Thank you for your question! Since you were able to squeeze filler out of your lips, the formula was likely injected too superficially. That said, immediately stop squeezing it out! The best course of action is to either let your body metabolize the filler or dissolve the filler with...
I suggest consulting with dermatologist to get a more accurate diagnosis and treatment for the brown discoloration at the vermilion border. That part of the lip is notorious for getting excessive sun exposure because of how it projects. It’s most likely related to melon release which can be a r...
