I had a tummy tuck 2 weeks ago and been wearing a compression garment along with a binder. But when I take off my binder I feel so so sore that is almost unbearable to the point that I have to put it back on to minimize the discomfort of the soreness. So my question is, is it normal to feel more comfort and less sorness when binder is on. I usually do it tight. So after taking it off I feel really numb and I break down and cry from soreness. Is that normal?
Answer: Compression after surgery Thank you for your question. The compression helps to decrease the amount of swelling from surgery. When you remove the garments it allows for the tissues to expand and you can experience some increased discomfort. The garments can also become a security blanket for you while healing. I would suggest each day leaving them off a little longer that way you can slowly become adjusted to not wearing them, but also control the discomfort that you are having. You do not want to depend on the garment to get you moving around, so each day increase the duration of not wearing it by 30-45 minutes and it will get easier.

Answer: Tummy Tuck/Abdominoplasty/Liposuction/High Definition Procedures/Tummy Tuck Revision I appreciate your question. I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz Board Certified Plastic Surgeon #RealSelf100Surgeon

Answer: Binder and garment Its best to run this by your PS. It is important to apply compression but it is important that the compression is not doing anything harmful. You may need a change of garments / binder?
