Patient records. How do I go about finding out what implants were used if my surgeon has retired?

Hello there Well it isn't easy . You can try contacting the hospital or day theatre where your surgery was performed .Or if your surgeon has a junior partner that has taken over perhaps they will still have records .If it is just a sizing question , an MRI can determine that reasonably accurately .CheersTS

Thank you for the question. I would call the practice and see if there is an existing operative record/dictation of the procedure. Try to get hold of your medical records. If the implant card was given to you, you can probably get information about your implant by contacting the company.

You may be able to get the implant details from the hospital where the original operation was carried out.
