Bulging masseter 6 days after Botox?

I have often seen the above-reported bulging at the site of Botox injections to the masseters; it is usually on both sides. I have been unable to find any credible explanation for it. I doubt that inflammation would cause this. Also, a hematoma would emerge as a bruise. More likely: the masseter is a strong muscle with many fiber bundles. It may be that some bundles--not affected by the Botox--might bulge out more than those that are already affected by the Botox.Regardless, it is a temporary issue and you will see things calm down very soon. The injections are quite effective too, so just wait the 30-60 days necessary to see some really nice softening of your jaw line.

Thanks for your question. Bring this up to your injector when you see them for follow up.  It is likely that the bulge is some swelling or inflammation.  The effects of Botox on the masseter muscle take longer to become evident than when we are treating finer lines on the face.  So I don't think what you are seeing is attributable to the Botox.  Your injector can guide you and also decide if more units are needed.  Best of luck to you!
