Is it normal to have headaches and feel unwell 3 days after botox and filler?

I had juvederm in the upper cheek and tear trough area 3 days ago and this looks great though my eyes in the under eye area feel a bit heavy at times. I also botox in my forehead. I have a headache much of the time and feel tired - not sure if I have a cold or if this is a normal reaction? L

Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to have headaches after injectable treatments. If things persist beyond a week, then I would definitely return to your injector to see if there is any potential connection, or nerve compression that can be alleviated.

A slight headache after Botox is not uncommon, and will disappear within a few days. Juvederm is hyaluronic acid. It draws water to the tissue once injected. Slight heaviness in the eyelids should be temporary following tear trough injections.

At 3 days, you should feel normal. Tiredness and headaches are probably unrelated. Occassionaly one will get a headache after Botox for a day or 2. Rarely flu like symptoms can occur that lasts a few days but I haven't seen this very much.

In the original clinical trials some of the patients in the Botox group did have headaches for a few days compared to the control group/ also rarely did a few patients have flu like symptoms for up to a week

Hello Dancingbirds,On the day of the injection and for a few days after it is not common but some patients will have a little bit of a headache from the needle insertions.  This is more common if the needle was inserted all the way to the bone (and you heard or felt a crunching sound).  In very rare instances, severe headaches have been documented but this would not be subtle for you and Botox is actually approved to treat headaches.  In either situation, it should not make you feel unwell.  I think it is more coincidental but you should follow up with your injector for a more personal evaluation.
