Dark scars, including keloid scars, can be improved with topical creams including the Melarase AM and Melarase PM used twice daily. Hi Liken. The first line of treatment with any keloid scar is a steroid injection. We prefer Kenalog and often what happens is that the dark color fades after injection because the hard tissue associated with keloid scars softens enough to disperse some of the color. If the color does not fade completely after injection, we can use hydroquionone bleaching products or q-switched laser treatments to get rid of the rest of the color.
