I think I read somewhere that Botox and Dysport may migrate within the first few hours of administration if you rub your face while it’s still settling in. I plan to get Botox in the early afternoon. Is it safe to sleep on my stomach or side that night? Or do I need to sleep on my back to be on the safe side? I was nervous that the pressure on my eye area or face could cause the Botox to migrate to unintended areas.

Answer: Sleeping on your stomach or side Sleeping on your stomach or sides are not a good idea in general, because in the long run they cause more wrinkles, and the fatty tissues in your face to droop faster. But after getting Botox or Dysport, there is no medical reason for the products to migrate. The products are placed in the muscle that the injector was attempting to affect, and it will not diffuse to the surrounding tissue.

Answer: Activity after Botox Thank you for your question and concerns. You should be fine to sleep however you like. I recommend my patients not to engage in heavy exercise, lie down for 4-6 hours or to massage or rub the treatment areas. for 4-6 hours after Botox injections. I hope this helps. Dr. Benjamin J.
