Thank you for your excellent question. WoundVacs have revolutionized plastic surgery wound care, speeding recovery for patients whose reason for a wound has been determined and appropriately treated. I would estimate based on the size of wound that it would help close it several weeks to months faster than conventional treatments
It's difficult to give you an exact time estimate, however a wound VAC will definitely speed up the healing process. The VAC pump can be a little more cumbersome, but you won't need as many dressing changes. Given the option, I would recommend the wound VAC.
Hi, this would be a good wound to place a VAC dressing on. It would definitely speed things up for you and reduce the number of dressings you require. It is not always practical to source a VAC dressing and it will depend on your provider. If it is an option, then I would definitely discuss it with your surgeon.Good luck with the healing.
In general, a wound of the size you are showing will take about 6 - 8 weeks to heal with a Wound VAC. It would take about 10 - 12 weeks with W - Dry dressing. Also, increasing protein intake, a balanced and high caloric intake, and no infection will speed things up considerably.
Hello,Typically after 2 weeks I don't have medication restrictions for my patients. The best person to advise you will be your own Plastic Surgeon as they know your situation the bestTake care

Hi there and thanks for posting,That is an excellent question. Being from Australia, we see a number of patients from remote ( and not so remote areas) where plastic surgery services are not available. It depends on the procedure, what your local resources are like, and how far you live from ...
Silicone sheeting and creams can be helpful for scar healing. Usually they are changed once a day. However, you should follow up with your surgeon for further wound instructions.
