Is 1 liter of fat removal from Vaser lipo enough time show a difference in someone who is 5'2", 155 lbs? (Photo)

I am having a breast aug and lipo to my abdomen and doctor says he is only able to remove 1 liter of fat from abdomen and hips? Would this be enough fat to make a good difference?

One liter of liposuction will make a difference but will not give you exceptional results. Make sure to discuss with your surgeon what you expectations are. If you are realistic and they refuse to help you achieve your goal, it may be best to consult with someone else. As always, make sure to consult with a fully trained plastic surgeon to ensure the highest chance of great results.

Hello,Thanks for your question.In my practice and experience, I am not able to give you the exact number in terms of quantity of fat is possible to remove however the most important is the quantity of fat left in your body that give you a natural looking results. After a careful assessment, usually my approach is Vaser lipo for the circumferential torso, abdomen, flanks and lower back in order to improve your overall silhouette and body contour and not just fat removal. the amount of fat removal isnt the most important its what is left behind and the shaping. 1l is a good amouthg of fat but from what I see here more will be needed for true body shaping.

You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best.  Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring.  Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods.  The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring.  This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face.  Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra.  If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty).  Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting.  Dr. Emer.

In my practice, I tell my patients not to be so focused on how much fat will be removed but rather what the results will be. Depending on how much fat is in your abdominal region, 1L may be significant enough to make a huge difference. What you need to determine is- is your surgeon underpromising with the intent to over deliver? And, what do the before and after pictures show you? The tell-tale sign of how you will look after your surgery is finding before and after pictures of a similar patient(s) that your surgeon has operated on. Remember, every surgeon has his/her specific style.

Not entirely sure about the amount the total suctioned fat amount but it looks like there could be more than 1 lit fat there.
The idea of liposuction is not just to get fat out for harvesting, it is also do proper liposuction. 
I have had similar situation like the photo, and we got 2.5 lit out and concentrating it and injection 1400 cc in the breasts.
It must be concentrated and washed before injection otherwise volume goes down significantly.

I’m pretty reluctant to pre-determine how much fun I’m going to remove with Liposuction.

I have no idea what your surgeons thoughts are or what areas he tends to include. Typically I would never treat just the front of the abdomen without treating the backside or infect the entire torso.

In my practice treating the full torso on someone like you would probably yield 3 L of fat.

After having done over 7000 Liposuction procedures I’m still a bit humbled by how different the volumes of fat  removed can be from what I anticipate.

I have known surgeons who pre-determine the amount of fat to be removed and stop when they get to that number. I think it’s a bit of an absurd way of doing Liposuction. Perhaps your surgeon will remove as much as he or she can or feels is appropriate and was just giving you a conservative guideline.

The approach and results from Liposuction very quite a bit among different providers.

This is why I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations with different providers in their community to get a sense and have the best chance of finding the most experienced and talented plastic surgeon for their needs.
