I am sixteen with a 32A breast size. I am very tall and thin as well. I had my first period two years ago. I take after my dad's side of the family and closely resemble and aunt that has a small A cup. I really don't see myself developing almost anything more. I was wondering if when I was 17, with my parent's support and consent, I would be able to receive a breast augmentation? I want to do this for myself and my own happiness.
Answer: Breast Augmentaton at 17 There are several opinions you are likely to receive relating to this question.Basically it is personal and individual as to what age women get breast implants due to differing rates of physical maturation between women. It is true that the FDA recommends women be 18 to receive breast implants however this is a recommendation not a law. As we all know and understand, government recommendations are for the masses and not the individual. There are also recommendations from the FDA as to which type of implant- saline and silicone - you receive based on your age.Having fully developed breast at the time of surgery is important and that is one reason 18 is the suggested age. Another reason is that you need to be mature enough to understand the long term consequences of this surgery. It can be wonderful but does require more surgery throughout a woman's lifetime. If your parents agree that you should consider breast enlargement - you could visit a local board certified plastic surgeon in Marietta to get more information and options explained to you and your parents. You may chose to act on that information before the age of 18 with your parents consent or you may chose to wait until you are over 18 and get the procedure without needing their consent. This Forum on Real Self is a good way to get basic information but does not come close to what you will learn during a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.Good luck with your search!

Answer: Breast augmentation is a 17 is definitely possible but requires parents consent. Any elective aesthetic surgery in a teenager is done with great consideration. However many teams particularly preparing for college choose to have a breast augmentation with the consent of the parents.

Answer: 17 years old and breast augmentation You will get many opinions concerning this too. It is not unreasonable to have a breast augmentation with the parents consent at age 17. I typically recommend that

Answer: Augmentation at 17 Although you can do this, I recommend waiting that one extra year until you are 18 to go through with a breast augmentation procedure. Continue to think it through for the next year, maybe even meet with a couple surgeons and find who you like, but in my opinion it would be best to wait until after you are 18 to have the surgery done.

Answer: Breast augmentation at age 17 The FDA approved saline implants for women 18 and older and silicone implants for women 22 and older. That does not mean it is "illegal" to perform breast augmentation on those younger than those ages, it means it is "off label" for a doctor to do it. In other words, if the doctor and patient (and the minor's parent in this case as the patient is still a minor and cannot consent to anything legally), a patient under 18 can have breast augmentation. That said, this is a really rare instance. Definitely consider waiting until you are 18. And please find a board certified plastic surgeon with a good reputation. Best of luck to you.
