I suffered fomrom Chickenpox this past few weeks and it leaved a lot of deep scars on my face. What can i do about it how can i get rid of it. I talked to some dermatologist and they recommend Fraxel or either Microneedling, what is the most effective treatment?
Answer: Recommend doing TCA and a light CO2 laser to help even out skin texture caused by the scarring Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Scars require a combination approach using our HI DEF protocol which uses a combination of lasers, topical scar modulation, and RF treatments to pixelate scars, improve contour, reduce hyperpigmentation, and improve the visibility of the scars so that they are no longer visible in ambient light. Everyone has a unique pattern of scarring and we employ our HIDEF technique to improve texture, color, contour, and topography. We often use a combination of treatments that begin with a careful examination to examine the micro texturing of the acne scars. Atrophic scars and indented scars can benefit from injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane with or without subcision to remove tethered scars and atrophic depression. Hyper-redness in scars can be improved with V beam laser, Excel V, BBL, IPL, and Venus RF to improve the redness and reduce the visibility of deep scars. Fractional Thulium laser and clear & brilliant can also reduce the inflammation and redness of the scar when combined with topical therapy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Above all, our combination approach with our clinical nurses and board-certified plastic surgeons can improve the quality of your skin by using at home Melarase creams combined with PRP treatments in our office to improve your skin quality and tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced team of experts in order to reduce your scarring. Finally, hyperpigmentation of scars can be improved with at-home Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads to help reduce active PIH and melanin deposition. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Unfortunately, chicken pox scars do not respond well to fillers or lasers. Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, chicken pox scars do not respond well to fillers or lasers. The best treatment for chicken pox scars is excision and non-ablative treatment of the scars. The rim of the scars can be flattened with lase treatment. However the results are typically not good. I recommend having a consultation with and expert to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!

Answer: Treatment of Chicken Pox Scars Dear Jeninee Thank you for your question. The answer depends on your scar. The doctor should have explained this to you. My worry is that if they haven't explained it to you they don't understand it themselves which concerns me. May be they shouldn't be in this field and get out if they are going to dabble. But enough of the rant:You will see 2 types of chickenpox scar. White (because they have lost the top layer of skin) and skin coloured (because the epidermis is still there, some acne scars can look very similar). The white ones can only be cut out and stitched. RARELY the sharp edges can be smoothed down but usually this is futile, expensive and a waste of time. The problem is that cutting them out is VERY difficult and I have seen many plastic surgeons mess these up. I have got so fed up that I have resorted to flying a surgeon in from Australia to UK to do these for us because I trust him. The skin coloured ones can be filled and made to improve in appearance quite dramatically.I would suggest a soft filler such as Volbella. This is difficult to do and don't expect anyone with a syringe and a needle in their hand to get a result. Disaster is much more likely unless the doctor is a real expert. These products are relatively shortlived though. There are products in development that will give a very long lasting result BUT none of the ones around at the moment are any use and trust me don't even try them.I hope that helps.Kind Regards Dr Dinesh Maini Zenith Cosmetic Clinics
