Will the end product of my nose look the same as it does after it has been taped?

I am two and a half months post-opp from a rhinoplasty. My nose is still very swollen at the tip and looks quite bulbous (which I am not happy about). However, when I tape my nose before I sleep and remove the taping in the morning , my nose looks very slim and less bulbous. I was wondering if the end product of my nose will look similar to how my nose does after I have taped it, or am I being too optimistic?

In a very general sense the answer is yes, the evacuation of swelling by pressure can demonstrate the direction of shape change that will occur as swelling resolves.

Thank you very much for enquire.It's too early to make value judgments with only two months after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Most rhinoplasty surgeons tape a nose for a week or two. So two and a half months of taping seems like quite a bit. As you may have noticed, prolonged taping may cause some unwanted skin issues. As you approach the 3 month mark, typically you will be getting close to your final result, even if there is still some residual swelling.

I would say that in general, you are going to see the shape without the swelling when the tape is removed.   This can take a year or longer. Best of luck.

Thanks for your question. The nasal tip holds edema far longer than the other parts of the nose. The good news is, since you like the shape when the edema is pushed out, that means that the underlying shape of the cartilages is good. If the underlying structure is good, you should be pleased with the end result once all the swelling is gone. Good luck!

You are correct.  Your nose will continue to heal over the next several months.  You still have swelling which can last up to a year.  Continue following your Plastic Surgeon's post op instructions for a complete recovery.
