Hi im 27 male and was looking to get a hair transplant but using the FUE technique , I've been advised around 3000 + grafts, I'm going to India for the procedure, the problem I have is I have a tattoo were they take for hair from SAFE ZONE , I've been told it won't affect the procedure but I don't want the tattoo be affected, looking at pictures of the way they puncture the skin and remove the hair I was thinking it may pull the ink out of the tattoo but not sure if this is true or not ? Congratulations on working towards restoring your hair. Using hair transplant with the strip method with leave a scar at the back of your hair and affect your tattoo. The latest FUE methods with Smartgraft tend not to leave any noticeable scars. Am not sure why you are going to India when there are many excellent plastic surgeons here in Atlanta. Who will do your follow up? Will you fly to there for all your care?

If you are worried about the tattoo, ask your doctor.  If you harvest hair follicles where there is tattoo, there will be a mark.

Hair can only be moved in men from the sides and the back of the head. If that area has a tattoo on it, then the tattoo may be changed after either technique (FUE or Strip surgery). Without seeing your situation, I can not give you an opinion.
