Hi, yesterday I had my breast lift and augmentation done by a very good surgeon. Prior to this, I was 13 kilos heavier, with D cup breasts all my life. After my diet, my boobs got very small and sagged a lot. Now I still want to lose 4/5 more kilos but I'm worried that my implants will be effected. I had a lot of breast tissue before the op. I'm in a lot of pain/pressure right now but I have to be patient and wait for results as weeks roll by. Can someone give me his/her advice?
Answer: Dont diet right now After surgery, you need a good protein diet to heal. Discuss your concerns with your doctor and he/she will let you know when you can start dieting. If your breasts get smaller, just gain the weight back.

Answer: Weight Loss & Breast Surgery Thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss. While we encourage maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise, the immediate postoperative period is not the time to address you last 5 kilos. During the immediate postoperative period, you should focus on increasing your protein intake to 80-100 grams to encourage uneventful healing. Malnourishment due to dieting in the postoperative period can lead to wound healing problems, opening of the incisions and potential exposure of your implant...all complications that you would like to avoid. After about 6 weeks of uneventful healing you can return to all activities like diet and exercise. A 10-15 lb weight loss can affect your breasts if you still have a significant amount of breast tissue. If you have little breast tissue, the impact may be minimal. This is one of the reasons we ask patients to wait until they reach their ideal weight before having surgery. Discuss this matter further with your surgeon for additional guidance and reassurance. Best wishes on your recovery.

Answer: Effect of weight loss on implants Thanks for your question. Weight loss affects everyone differently so it is difficult to tell how further weight loss will affect your breasts. Some people notice very little change, but others will have a major change in the shape of their breasts.

Answer: If I lose 5 kilos, will I effect my breast implants? There is no simple answer to this question. The weight loss does not change the implants themselves, but can change the breast shape. Work with a board certified Plastic Surgeon for your optimal outcome.

Answer: Does Weight Fluctuation Impact Breast Size? Hi Millie, Thanks for your question and congratulations on your recent weight loss and surgery. Regarding your question it is impossible to say for sure as some women's breasts change dramatically with weight fluctuation while others can remain a similar size with weight changes. If you were my patient I'd probably have a better idea of things. Why not bring up this question with your plastic surgeon? Try to be patient in the healing process and remember that the majority of swelling will start to go away at about 4 -- 6 weeks. Also it can take12 weeks up to six months for final results of shape and form. Best to you. -Dr. Coan
