Is there any help for swelling after a 360 Tummy Tuck besides the normal. (Compression garment ect...)

Question

I am three weeks out today from my 360 tummy tuck with some lipo in my back. Today the swelling is almost unbearable. I know I will have good and bad days but is there anything I can do to really help that doesn't involve NSAIDs. I wear my compression garment all the time as instructed and I absolutely don't over do it and know the universal instructions but is there anything else? Ice packs maybe? Any meds excluding NSAIDs? Thank u in advance!

The garment is really the best option to decease swelling.  Massage may also help.  It really does take time....so be patient and stay in touch with your Plastic Surgeon.   Best to you.

When you say you've had a "360 tummy tuck", do you mean you've undergone a circumferential body lift (where the incision line goes 360 degrees circumferentially around your waist?  Or did you have an extended tummy tuck with liposuction to your waist and posterior flanks/lower back?  Regardless, swelling is a normal part of healing.  Please continue to wear your compression garments as per your plastic surgeon's recommendations and follow-up with your PS as scheduled.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.Dr. Basu

Hello and thank you for your question. The answer is yes. I will sometimes give my patients a diuretic such as lasix.  You need to talk to your ps.
