Ablative and fractionally ablative lasers can cause your skin to become dry. It is critical to have optimal post laser skin care to achieve the best result. Alastin makes a wonderful post procedure product call Nectar. You'll also want to use sunblock. You did mention IPL in your question. This is non ablative broad band light therapy which leave the skin in tact and should not cause dryness.
IPL does work very closely with heat which pulls moisture out of the skin. Its good to always wear a sunscreen of at least 45 and moisturize your skin daily. At our office you will leave after being cooled down with sunscreen and moisturizer. We have options of products for you to buy that work well with the laser machines.
I suggest holding off on any treatments that might further irritate your skin. Look for rich, hydrating products to protect the skin's barrier. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

So sorry this has happened to you. Any regular reader of my Realself answers could tell you that I am no fan of light and other energy-based devices for a bunch of reasons. The hard science to support their use simply lags behind the heavy advertising and promotion for their use. Again, sorry. ...
