At the risk of oversimplifying, most facial wrinkles result from two major contributing factors: a dynamic component (i.e. related to movement of the muscles of facial expression) and a static component (i.e. those lines that have become "etched-in" to the "fabric" of our facial skin--and are present at rest--after years of emoting thousands of times per day for many years). To achieve optimal improvement, it is best to address both the dynamic and static components. Hyperkinetic movement of the periorbital muscles can be treated with Botox (or the other neuromodulators Dysport--which I prefer for this--and Xeomin). However, if static lines are already present, these need to be treated with the use of filler. In my Upper East Side Manhattan office, I prefer Belotero Balance for this and in my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved fillers are available, I typically opt for Aliaxin FL for this. Both treatments may be performed during the same treatment session or in two separate treatment sessions. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and be certain to ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck to you.
