One Breast Bigger Than the Other After Augmentation?

Question

Initially my right breast was bigger before surgery so my PS put a bigger implant in the left side. What bothers me is, the right breast is the one that is more swollen. I know that it is common for one to be bigger than the other but should i be worried?

It is not uncommon to heal asymmetrically at first. After a month or so, this should resolve on its own. Depending upon the time out from surgery, I would suggest revisiting your board certified plastic surgeon for an exam and recommendations.

How long has it been since your surgery? Making judgments on size should be reserved until at least 6-8 weeks after surgery and more likely 3-6 months. During the initial healing phases, it is very common for one breast to appear larger than the other. Please talk to your surgeon if you are still concerned.

I understand your concern. I can't tell how recent your surgery was. You need to wait at least 3 months before you can really make any judgement regarding size and symmetry.

A lot depends on how far out from your surgery you are. Swelling typically takes 4- 8 weeks to resolve and the position of the implants can change over the period of months. If concerned f/u with your surgeon to discuss your options and see if everything is healing properly. Good luck.
