Butt implant complications - why did this happen? (photos)

Hello I have butt implants may 2020 & had constant seromas , at one point my incision got a bubble over it and popped open and was leaking insane amounts of fluid, for about a month , then it happened a month later. Then around January I noticed like indentions when I would push on my glutes and soon after a bubble appeared over it and was painful to touch and eventually popped. A nurse came everyday to pack. Then happened on other side.this time my implant was exposed.

Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos and relatively limited information. It would be nice to also have copies of your operative report and medical records. Please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made.

Wound healing problems/complications can and do happen with any type of surgery, and most commonly of the incision area. However a wound that develops over the center of the buttock cheek with then exposure of the implant is extremely rare.  This typically only happens if the implant was placed on top of the muscle, instead of much more appropriately within the muscle (ie intramuscular pocket). Usually, the best course of action is to remove your implants, wait ~ 6 months for all wounds to fully heal, then replace new implants into the intramuscular pocket.  Please note that an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants, so you may need to travel far and away from home to find this particular surgeon. Implant failure is common looks good you’ll implants. The operation has a very high complication rate and even those who get through the procedure without losing their implants often have issues with the implants, moving to new anatomic locations or flipping and not looking right.
There’s a good reason why the majority of board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States don’t do this operation.
Your implants were probably contaminated from the beginning.
Having gluteal implants is accepting having a high risk procedure.
Increasing long-term success seems to be associated with intramuscular placement of implant. Using implants that are not too big and easily fit within the size of the gluteus muscle. Choosing providers who specialize in this operation.
