Hi all. I had minor concern in jowls due to volume loss that my injector has suggested to correct with filler in that region. Belotero Volume was used. Now the area is much worse and my jowls on one side of my face is huge, you can literally see the filler on that side under the skin. I am afraid of dissolving. What are the options to correct this? Rf microneedling? Laser? I am devastated that this how it will stay for many years now.
Answer: How to Safely Correct Asymmetry After Belotero Filler in the Jowls Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm truly sorry you're going through this. It sounds like you're experiencing asymmetry and overcorrection following filler placement in the jowl area, which can understandably be distressing. Belotero Volume is a soft, cohesive filler typically used for midface and volumizing, but if placed too superficially or in the wrong plane, especially in thinner-skinned areas like the jowls, it can become visible or create contour irregularities. If the filler is causing significant bulging or visible asymmetry, you do not have to wait years for it to resolve. Here are some options we can consider: Hyaluronidase (Filler Dissolver): Although you mentioned concern about dissolving, this remains the most effective and immediate solution if the filler is misplaced. It can be done very conservatively to maintain surrounding volume while correcting the prominent area. A skilled injector can help dissolve only the problematic side to restore symmetry. RF Microneedling: Treatments like Morpheus8 or Secret RF may help improve skin texture and mild contour irregularities, but they will not significantly impact filler material itself. This could be a helpful adjunct after correction. Laser Treatments: Non-invasive lasers won’t break down filler but can help with skin tightening or fine-tuning texture if volume correction is completed first. Wait-and-Watch: Belotero Volume typically lasts around 12–18 months, but depending on placement and metabolism, it can resolve sooner. However, if it’s visibly under the skin, it may persist longer without intervention. You're not alone in this, and it’s absolutely possible to correct the issue. I would recommend consulting with a board-certified dermatologist or injector experienced in both correction and facial anatomy to ensure a tailored and safe approach. If you'd like, I’d be happy to guide you through the next steps or offer a second opinion virtually.

Answer: Filler I'm sorry you are unhappy with your filler treatment. You may be able to massage the area to help it settle more evenly, depending on how long ago your treatment was. Otherwise the best option is to have it dissolved with hyaluronidase. In addition to fillers, another option to improve jowls and the jawline is Morpheus8 which improves overall skin tone and texture.

Answer: Morpheus8 Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. If you’re experiencing unevenness and noticeable filler in your jowls after using Belotero Volume, Morpheus8 may be a promising option for correction. Morpheus8 is a non-invasive treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. This can help tighten the skin around the jowls, potentially reducing the appearance of the filler and creating a more balanced look. The treatment works by delivering controlled energy deep into the skin, which encourages the natural healing process and promotes tighter, smoother skin over time. This can be particularly beneficial in addressing volume loss and unevenness, as it helps to enhance the overall contour of the face without the need for additional filler. While Morpheus8 is not a direct solution for dissolving filler, it can improve the skin’s appearance and texture, potentially masking any unevenness caused by the filler. Many patients find that the skin feels firmer and looks more youthful after just a few sessions. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: The dissolving enzyme, when used properly, maybe considered for reducing the effects of HA fillers. You should certainly bring your concerns to the attention of your doctor. Sometimes it's helpful to look at before and after photos as well. Certainly do not appear to have a peculiar facial appearance based on your photos, however, if there has been a change in fullness where you were injected, this should be seen in these photos and your concerns may be addressed. Thank you for this question and I wish you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
