Tip deprojection - can this be fixed?

Had rhinoplasty 3 months ago. I know I need to wait a whole year to see final results but my surgeon said my overall shape will remain which makes me think that I will end up with an over projected tip. I had a tension nose with a plunging tip and now I see a much smaller nose that’s overprotected. If in a year it’s still too overprotected will it be an easy fix? I already paid a lot of money for this. I’m worried. Also, from your expertise, is there potential for deprojecting still?

While it's true that the nose tends to de-project with time after surgery, three months is a long time already, and your nose doesn't look very swollen, which indicates that the tip probably won't deproject meaningfully over the next many months. You'll probably want a revision.

No, it won't be an easy fix. Any revision is complicated, and while reducing the projection of your tip is certainly doable, it's not easy. And you must be careful in deciding on the surgeon for your revision. This is not a procedure that most plastic surgeons would know how to accomplish with finesse and expertise, or even at all.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you will likely need a revision in the future. This type of over projection will likely not get better and likely will look more pronounced with time. Tip deprojection can address this during a revision. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
