Would I benefit from filler in my temples? (photos)

Question

My temples are somewhat hallow I believe due to my bone structure and be slightly underweight. I am in my early 20s so I do not think it's from aging. Would you recommend temple fillers for me? Thank you.

Thank you for your question and photo. Dermal fillers are a favorable option for restoring volume to hollow temples. Adding volume to this area can create a smooth transition from the cheekbone to the top of the head, resulting in a refreshed appearance. In my office, we use a micro-cannula to inject this area, which minimizes bruising and swelling and ensures the smoothest outcome.
I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced expert injector. They will be able to assess your concern and determine the best treatment option for you.

Temporal hollowing is very common and although frequently associated w/ aging from fat loss, is quite commonly just an anatomic depression. You are correct that this is something commonly found in underweight individuals even in their youth. Based on your photo, you may be a candidate for dermal filler to help restore a more youthful appearance by rounding out your face. Quite often I usually recommend facial fat grafting (even if just a few cc's) to give you a much more natural and permanent result. Be sure to discuss all of your nonsurgical and surgical options and see a board certified plastic surgeon in person for a complete facial evaluation.

The temporal area is often overlooked when it comes to filler. Whenever there is a concave appearance,  filling this area becomes an option. All types of fillers can be safely placed in this area including fat and all the fillers on the market. It may take a few syringes on each side. A permanent solution is the placement of silicone temporal implants.

Although there is a suggestion of volume deficit in the temple, the one photo is honestly insufficient to make an adequate assessment; a full-face view would be much more helpful. If it proves that there is sufficient volume deficit in the temples to justify treatment, and it truly bothers you, then, in the hands of an experienced filler, temple augmentation is rather easily accomplished. It took me no more than ten minutes to do this yesterday evening for one of my patients. Just make sure that you consult an experienced comsetic dermatologist injector, since the temples are not an area for injection by a novice injector accustomed to only injecting plain Restylane or ordinary Juvederm into simple smile lines. It is difficult to comment on your question given the limited view from the photo.  You would need to have a full facial assessment to determine if dermal fillers would address your concerns.  You should make an appointment with an experienced practitioner who can evaluate you and give you recommendations.  If there is volume loss in the temples dermal fillers are one option.
