What's your opinion on professional microneedling at 2 week intervals?

Hello doctors SkinPen rep recently advised on new protocol for acne scarring, which is to have patient needle every 2 weeks. We were using a 4 week protocol. The theory being it is to increase collagen production during the proliferative phase of wound healing. What are your expert opinions on this approach ?

Hello, I would suggest waiting at least two weeks after the SkinPen treatment to do any other treatments to your skin. The 2 weeks will allow your skin the repair from the SkinPen.

Hi star_dust33, I would recommend not doing microneedling over any active acne, even small pustules. You may want to look into doing some salicylic peels to kill any bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Microneedling has become one of the greatest treatments for acne scars. The procedure has generally only a few day down time with nice improvement of the scars. I have never seen any worsening of the acne scars after microneedling. I wonder since you are only twelve days out from your procedure,...
