What can this be - keloid, resurfaced cartilage? 8 months post rhinoplasty. Unsure how to proceed.

Do you have any foreign bodies implanted in your nose? Did you have permanent sutures placed during your surgery? After more than 20 years of performing rhinoplasty, we have only seen infection when there is a foreign body (perhaps L-shaped silicone graft), or occasionally if someone is sensitive to permanent suture material. This does not appear to be a keloid, and this is largely an issue to be dealt with by your surgeon, or another reputable rhinoplasty specialist as soon as possible to prevent possible extrusion. Good Afternoon! Thanks for the questions and photos. Was your nose projected quite a bit? This appears to be a pressure wound from too much tension over the tip area on closure. Whether cartilage or an implant, if the skin is starved of oxygen, breakdown and thinning will occur. It may be wise for the surgeon to evaluate if the grafting needs to be removed to allow for the skin to be resurfaced. I would seek consultation with another surgeon who performs complex rhinoplasty to determine what may be the next course of action since you've tired so much already. Hope this helps!
