I had revision done 6 months ago. All I wanted was to unpinch the tip of my nose and he added cartilage throughout the nose to give volume to side profile. All I'm worried about is my front profile.I haven't seen any improvement in a long time. I'm scared too much cartilage was added. My facial features are so small, my face can't handle a wider nose. I expect swelling at tip at the 6 month mark but the upper/middle part is just as big.
Answer: 6 months is a bit too soon to determine the final width of your nose after revision rhinoplasty. I can see your concern about a wide nasal appearance. We have seen significant nasal narrowing after revision rhinoplasty from 6 months to 12 months so sit tight for now. If things aren't moving in the right direction after several months, consider procuring a copy of your operative report and consider Consulting with another reputable rhinoplasty specialist. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph

Answer: A wide nose after Rhinoplasty Thank you for your query. The pictures on the left, I am assuming are before the procedure in which the nose looks smaller. The cartilages, that are added are usually added in the tip and the sides should not look bulky from the front. You should discuss your concerns with your Plastic surgeon who can tell you exactly what was done. If the sides remain wide, they can be fixed as well, by careful osteotomies etc. and your surgeon should be able to help you with that. All the best!

Answer: Revision 6 months ago - if my nose stays wide can it be an easy fix? Hello @Vivianamartin74, thank you for your question. It is important to keep in mind that you should wait a full six months before assessing the results of your nose revision. Your nose may require additional time to fully adjust and heal after the procedure. Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that even if you choose revision surgery, there are no guarantees that the results will be better than before. In any event, once enough time has passed since your revision operation visiting an expert can offer further insight into valid ways of resolving this issue while providing much greater peace of mind regarding expected outcomes as they relate directly back to your original goals. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Very hard to know from just the photos. Some questions ... What does your doctor say about this? You said he added lots of cartilage: that's usually done when we're trying to make something bigger. Sometimes cartilage is put on the inside in a way that shouldn't change the width of the nose. "To make the side profile bigger"-- was that one of your goals that you discussed with him? Being able to see the operation report might help a lot. It's true that the bridge of the nose tends to lose its swelling faster than the tip, and you'd expect the bridge to go down by six months, but of course nothing is ever 100%. What do the other views look like? Do they increase your concern that something was done during surgery to increase the width of the nose? Sorry I have all questions and no answers right now!
