Hello, I really want a mini tummy tuck vs. a full tummy tuck because it's much less risky. I have only had one pregnancy and the stretch marks above my stomach don't bother me to much. Please let me know your thoughts about if I would get a good result with a mini tummy tuck? Also I am doing a breast lift with fat injection from lipo. Also my stomach muscles are very tight and not in need of repair. I feel that if I lost 10 pounds my stomach would also change alot so I am confused.
Answer: Full tummy tuck You are not a candidate for a mini tummy tuck: you have upper and lower abdominal wall and skin laxity. One is not safer than the other. Get the right surgery.

Answer: Full tummy tuck with Lipo and fat grafting to breast versus mini tummy tuck Based on your nicely posted a few photos you were only a candidate for a full tummy tuck not a mini tummy tuck. But best to virtual consult with so that this can be discussed in more detail. For this combination of surgery expect feed to range from $10,000-$20,000.

Answer: Get to stable weight an re-evaluate Hi there, I would definitely recommend getting to your goal weight and then being evaluated. In general, a mini tuck cannot remove as many stretch marks as the full can and is usually recommended over the mini however not always all the best

Answer: Choosing the correct procedure This response was dictated. I apologize for any grammatical errors. The choice of procedure should be based on having a clear understanding of what the underlying problem or ideology is. In other words, the first step is to make an accurate diagnosis. There are four tissue variables that affect the appearance of the abdomen. These are. 1) abdominal skin laxity typically due to previous pregnancies or weight loss. 2) excess subcutaneous fat. 3) muscle separation from previous pregnancies. 4) excess visceral or intra-abdominal, fat, In your case, I think you have all four, but I would say the primary to our pregnancy related and they are skin, laxity and muscle separation. A straight abdominal muscle wall should be a B line between the origin and the insertion. This means a straight abdominal wall should create a straight line between your sternum and your pubic bone. If you’re a Domino ball bulges in front of that line Either has muscle, separation, excess, visceral, fat, or both. All women who have term pregnancies will develop muscle separation. Muscle separation is not best judged by being able to put your fingers between your rectus muscles. It is best assessed by seeing how much the abdomen bulges in the standing position. Look for pictures of you pre-pregnancy and see if the abdominal wall had the same amount of bulging. My best guess is that it did not. it is fairly important to differentiate between excess visceral, fat and muscle separation. Both of them give a fairly similar appearance. One way to differentiate Raul, fat versus muscle separation is to lay on your back and see if your abdominal wall becomes slightly concave. If it does, then the problem is most likely purely related to muscle separation, and there is little Excess visceral fat. If the abdominal wall still bulges slightly while laying on your back, then excess visceral fat is most likely contributing. You can also assess the amount of fat seeing how much pressure it takes to press your abdomen flat. If you can do this easily with your non-dominant hand and hold your abdomen flat Where it’s lined up between your sternum and pubic bone for a long time without your arm feeling tired then Visal fat is probably not a problem. I think the majority of plastic surgeons will recommend a full tummy tuck. A mini tummy tuck will give you a mini result and I question if having the procedure is even worth it. My recommendation would be either do a full tummy tuck or don’t do it. It’s also important to take family planning into consideration. Patience should be fairly certain. They’re not planning on having future children when having these procedures.I suggest having multiple in person consultations with local plastic surgeons in your community. I recommend patience, avoid virtual, consultations whenever possible. I also recommend against traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures. I do not think it’s a good idea for patients to make their own assessments. Plastic surgeons have years of experience doing this and we’re much better at assessing the underlying problem and deciding which is a better procedure. Obviously, all of us listen to what patients are hoping to achieve and what their main concerns are. To get a good understanding of what each of the different options can deliver, I suggest during each in person consultation, you ask providers to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients with similar body characteristics, who had Whatever procedure you are contemplating. This way you can see exactly what the results would look like of either a mini or a full tummy tuck. Mini tummy tucks are not as common as full tummy tucks. That said an experience plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients for commonly performed procedures. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. Provider selection is in the end by far the most important variable. It is the variable that is going to have the greatest impact on the overall outcome and overall patient satisfaction. It is also the variable patient have the most control over. There is substantial variation in skill and experience among plastic surgeons. For this reason I suggest patients consider having four or five consultations before selecting a provider. Allow the surgeons to guide you through the process. Don’t make these decisions on your own. Do it together with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
