Alarplasty - How many millimeters should be removed? (Photo)

Hi, I’m scheduled to have an alarplasty in three weeks. I was told that 5 mm will be removed from each nostril. Would that be considered too much, or is it typically a conservative amount? Thank you.

The nostril can be corrected with alarplasty. Symmetry can be improved but to a limit. The alarplasty for wide nostrils is a bit different than the flare. Flare makes it more challenging as there is a mismatch between the upper cut being shorter and lower cut being longer. It has to be done by...

Yes, both can be done at the same time under local. It takes about 1.5hrs. The physical recovery is by next day since you are not put to sleep. Do some research to make sure you get to the surgeon who is comfortable in both of these procedures. Regards Dr. Janjua
