I had liposuction 3 years ago and it left me with a lot of dents and ridges. Is there anything that can be done to smooth it out?
Answer: Revision liposuction with fat grafting There is a clear transition where liposuction was performed (and over-resected) and were little to none was performed. A combination of liposuction to feather the transition zones combined with fat grafting will help with irregularities. Do not expect a perfectly smooth abdomen though. A second round may be necessary to improve the results further, and ultimately an abdominoplasty may be necessary to achieve the best results possible. Jumping to the latter is not recommended though. Begin with revision lipo and fat grafting.

Answer: Liposuction revision can help even out the ridged left from past liposuction. Do ultherapy or morpheus8 to enhance results Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Liposuction dents A good test to see if the reason for the irregularity is fat or skin. Pull up on you skin toward your chest and then down toward you pubic area. If the irregularities go away then excess skin is the issue and a tummy tuck will help. If the irregularities are still present then an examination is required to see if fat needs to be added or removed.

Answer: Poorly done Liposuction Liposuction should be considered a permanent and irreversible procedure. Unfortunately correcting poorly done Liposuction is very difficult and the best you can hope for is a minor improvement. Revision Liposuction is far more difficult than primary Liposuction. Delivering consistent quality. Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. Whether revision surgery is worth the potential improvement is questionable. Recognize that any attempt ad revising your outcome can easily make things worse if you’re not in the hands of someone who is a true expert. Simply finding someone with sufficient skill to guide you through the process may be difficult. Be careful with anyone who thinks this is easy to correct. Getting an improved outcome may require multiple procedures and even then the results will never be great or look normal. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction, results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons have truly mastered this procedure are in a small minority. Unfortunately, there is a substantial number of board-certified plastic surgeons who simply aren’t good at liposuction. Being board-certified in plastic surgery, with years of experience does not mean somebody has mastered one single procedure especially not Liposuction. For anybody, considering Liposuction, I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations before choosing a provider. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. And experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing only the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider or how many of these procedures they’ve actually done. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. The biggest mistake patients make is having only one consultation, then scheduling surgery. The first step, if you are considering revision surgery is to find somebody who is devoted their career to mastering this procedure. Liposuction revision is generally done with more liposuction, and or fat transfer, or a combination of both. This means you’ll need to vet providers for not only Liposuction skills, but also for fat transfer skills. Like I mentioned earlier, anybody who thinks this is easy to correct or some technology or certain device is going to fix the problem is probably not the person to choose. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
