Hi Doctors! I am 23 and have prominent marionette lines. Are there any ways to improve the appearance of these lines? I recently had buccal fat removal and feel like it made the lines worse. They are on both sides of my mouth to chin and are particularly noticeable in certain lighting.
Answer: Fillers Hi @Anna1808! I would recommend a hyaluronic acid based filler into the area. Restyle Refyne or Defyne works great for the marionette lines.

Answer: Laugh Lines / Nasolabial Folds - Fillers + Sculptra, Lasers like Fraxel/Clear + Brilliant, Radiofrequency, Peels, Skin Care I recommend fillers to soften the nasolabial folds themselves and also lift around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine Sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, skin tightening treatments such as Thermage, Fractora, and Renuvion (J Plasma), thread lifting, and peels to get the most conservative, natural look. I suggest seeing a facial sculpting expert for a formal consultation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Marionette lines at a young age: What are your treatment options? Hello, and thank you for your question. Most people get marionette lines as they age, but some may be more prone to developing these lines sooner. External factors like sun damage or smoking can make wrinkles more prominent. In your case, buccal fat removal may have accentuated the lines too. Fortunately, marionette lines can be addressed with dermal fillers. When injected, fillers provide structural support and plumpness, restoring a more refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. I highly recommend only seeking treatments from expert injectors who have the skill and experience to precisely inject filler into treatment areas and avoid risks and complications. They also know the most advanced injection techniques to ensure you safely achieve your desired results. Hope that helps!

Answer: A combination of Neurotoxins (Botox), fillers and skin resurfacing will be ideal. Hi Anna1801, Most of the time (at your age) Botox will be enough. But if you want longer lasting results, doing a radiofrequency ( skin resurfacing) like Morpheus8 will provide better results. Fillers can be used as well. If you have the means try to get Morpheus8 on the area affected (cheaper) or the whole face, this would not only improve the marionette lines but also the texture and appearance of your skin. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Answer: HA Fillers Are Routinely Used To Treat Marionette Lines Marionette Lines extending from the corners of the mouth downward to the sides of the chin are very commonly treated by fillers in any active cosmetic dermatology practice these days. They are more common as people age, but can be seen in much younger individuals based upon a genetic predisposition, or, as may be the case here, due to removal of fat from the cheeks above allowing for the development of sagging, jowls and folds, such as the mrionette lines, below. The probably is quite readily addressed with the use of fillers. In experienced hands, filler treatment should not take more than about fifteen minutes to perform and the results typically give rise to an immediate "Wow!" reaction. Just make sure to consult an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.
