First time doing MTS microneedling, and didn’t bleed. Is that normal? (Photo)

Question

I have enlarged pores, and researched videos online....people have had bleeding for the most part during the treatments. Well I went for the first time and she went around my face once and I really didn’t have much bleeding, just redness. Is this normal or should I go somewhere that will stimulate blood flow more?

Bleeding can be variable and doesn't mean you won't have a good result. It is normal to have redness after microneedling for a few days. This is due to inflammation and histamine release. For best results with microneedling combine with lasers like fraxel, aerolase,, Clear+Brilliant, C02, or Erbium to get improved collagen.  We suggest all patients follow up with facials like Silk Peel Dermalinfusuion to hydrate, exfoliate and provide the skin with antioxidants. Sun protection is also essential. If it doesn't resolve in a few days, please consult your physician and get vascular laser treatments to decrease the redness and swelling -- excel V, v beam/pulsed dye laser, or yellow laser.  LED therapy with lightstim right now would also help. Thanks for asking this question. The amount of bleeding during the microneedling procedure is dependant on lot of factors including the depth of penetration of needles and the texture of your skin. Most people get some degree of erythema or redness and some pin point bleeding during the procedure. If you did not notice any pin point bleeding it does not mean that you will not get any results. You can follow up with your Physician and discuss your concerns and the depth of needle can be adjusted with next treatment. You will still get amazing results in few weeks even if you did not  notice any bleeding.

Hi, thank you for posting the picture along with the question. Using a microneedling pen allows you to control the depth of penetration. Blood vessels are non-existant in the epidermis so you typically have to go deeper (down to the dermis) on the cheeks in order to see pinpoint bleeding, which is our end point when performing microneedling. You can ask your provider to go deeper next time.
