I had a consultation for FUE hairline lowering. The procedure will be 1800 grafts, and the grafts will fill in areas where hair has recessed but also place grafts in areas where hair has never grown before. I was told that the grafts in the new areas may not grow, but I'm actually fine with that. I just want to be safe. The person performing this procedure been doing FUE successfully in Los Angeles >10 years. He has a beautiful office and good reviews, but he is a PA-- not a doctor. Is that OK?
Answer: If you are considering surgery it would be best to discuss your options with a doctor. If you are considering surgery it would be best to discuss your options with a doctor. The doctor needs to examine you to give you a better assessment.

Answer: Hair transplant performed by a PA? It is not advisable to have the hair restoration performed by a physician assistant. This is a difficult procedure that takes the skill of a doctor. Something to remember when doing your research, there are literally hundreds of new clinics and doctors world wide popping up left and right trying to do FUE, rather it be strip doctors trying to now convert to FUE and have little experience doing the FUE procedure, new clinics where the PA does all the procedure while the doctor sits in the other room doing consultations - never once going in to the procedure, or brand new clinics claiming they can do FUE using a NEO GRAFT Machine, ARTAS or some other device. It is important when considering an FUE doctor to take in to consideration how long they have been doing FUE.The other conmponent is, who is doing the harvesting? Is it a Physicians Assistant (PA) or a technician doing the FUE harvesting while the doctor was in the other room doing consultations, which has become very common practice at a lot of FUE clinics. Or is it the doctor?Below are critical questions that you need answers to before moving forward with any FUE clinic. 1) Is your Doctor the person doing the FUE harvesting or is a Physician Assistant or technician doing the harvesting? 2) How long has your surgeon been doing FUE and FUE harvesting? 3) How many FUE cases does your doctor perform monthly? 4) If your doctor does both Strip and FUE, Does your doctor perform more strip cases then FUE cases monthly?

Answer: FUE for lowering hairline A physician assistant is not an MD. In the rare case there is an emergency, caveat emptor. Look at before and after photos and ask to speak with a patient whose before and after photos are made available to you. Try to make a wise decision based on both reliability and economics.

Answer: Hair lowering Procedure I think that the most important factor in determining the best surgeon is one who understands the hair transplant process and also has an Aesthetic eye in creating a natural hairline. Too often we are correcting that in patients whom present to us for their second transplant. Moreover, your surgeon should be conservative and figure out the best way to treat you NOT based on the initial results you can achieve but based on what you may look like 5, 10 and 15 years from now. Your surgeon should have a plan that fits your needs based on your family history of recession and his experience in hair loss prevention. Additionally, as a correction: If the physician or technician removes the hair from the correct donor area, that hair graft will grow on any well vascularized, healthy scalp area. .
