Tested positive for Botox antibodies. Alternatives? What to do now? (Photo)

 We  develop antibodies to proteins. There are two neuromodulators which have  aform of protein in them. These two are Botox and Dysport. Although it is uncommon to develop these antibodies, it can happen. Even if you do develop these antibodies it is still possible to get a dose response with botox and dysport if adjusted. However, if you are seeing very little results another option might be to switch to Xeomin which does not have a protein mix and no chance of developing antibodies.

Your situation is very frustrating!
Though rare, it is possible to develop Botox antibodies over time which
would decrease the product's effectiveness. Xeomin and Dysport are
alternatives. The other possibility is that your Botox is being watered
down which is a common practice depending on where you go and how much
you're paying. If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
As
with all cosmetic treatments, the skill of the doctor is of utmost
importance. Don't trust your face to just anyone! Consult with an expert
in facial aesthetics to maximize your results while minimizing side
effects. You'll be happier and save money in the long run.

The antibodies to a neuromodulator are to the associated protein and not the active protein in the Botox. Therefore, you can use Dysport or Xeomin and still have good results. Waiting will not change your antibody status. Dysport has a different associated protein and Xeomin has no associated protein.

Every patient who is injected with Botox makes antibodies and they are usually of no significance although they can make the Botox more difficult to work. Why you had the test done is beyond me but now that you have the information then what?  Dysport and Xeomin will not help as they are also botulinum toxin A but trying a higher dose may or may not help
