Used a straw after rhino and nose closed up. Did I permanently damage the results?

Question

I had a v. deviated septum and once I woke up from surgery I could breathe out of my right nostril so well, I was amazed, it felt great and open. I read online 2 use straws afterward and the nurse aide didn't say anything against them. The next day, after talking on the phone and trying to drink a milkshake afterward w/the straw, I felt too much suction, my nostrils closed up, and I felt an intense pressure. Do u think after the cast and dried blood/stitches r removed they will open up again?

Thank you for your question.  Using a straw after rhinoplasty is unlikely to cause any permanent changes to your overall outcome.  It is normal to have nasal congestion after rhinoplasty especially if you had septal and turbinate work.  Swelling can worsen a couple days after surgery to a peak 3-4 days after your operation and then gradually improve after that.  All the best!
