Is it safe to use an overhead dryer at the salon after Rhinoplasty?

In my opinion, I do not think there would be any harm using an overhead hair dryer in a salon 12 days after rhinoplasty.  The most important caution is to try and avoid hitting your nose.  I would recommend just checking with your own surgeon, as there may be some difference of opinion between surgeons.

Dear Autumnleaves15, Are you speaking about an overhead hair dryer that comes out of the ceiling that is still hand held or are you talking about old school dryer that they put over your head and you sit in the chair with the dryer on your head? An overhead blow dryer that is technically just a dryer connected to the ceiling (which they use in the salon my wife goes to) is fine, however you want to make sure that the person doing your hair is extremely careful as sometimes the placement of these dryers overhead can be more susceptible to bumping your face if not used cautiously. If you are talking about a dryer that comes down over the head that you sit under then the reason that some surgeons may not agree to the usage is simply that they can heat the scalp and facial area which may cause some swelling. I think if you do not get overheated and are not under the heat for any excess time period then you should be fine. If your surgeon has approved either of these then you should consider them safe. In my practice especially for patients from out of town we often give them certificates for complimentary blow dry appointments.
