Redness. Will this ever go away?

Question

I used ambi fade cream which has 2% hydronnique and I left it over night. When I woke up I had redness all over my face and it has almost been two weeks now and the redness has subsided but I still have some patches of redness around my face. Will this ever go away???? I'm so scared !!

I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist for wound care and potentially a steroid to decrease the swelling/redness more rapidly.  Some people use too much of the product or get irritated and this can be reversed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Skin reactions to what you thought were "safe" happen a lot more than you think. Your redness will go away...just be sure you are gentle to your skin. Also, stop using all products until everything is back to normal. And that means cover creams  too. If you feel you must cover, try some non-fragranced powder.Use a gentle soapless cleanser and light moisturizer like cetaphil or vanicream. if you are using sunscreen, avoid using chemical sunscreens and find one that's an oxide base. You want to eliminate as much potential irritation as possible.If you don't see some fairly quick improvement after stopping the use of cosmetics and other skin products and only using bland cleansers and moisturizers, do see a dermatologist to rule out infection.Almost any skin product can cause an allergic reaction, so if you tend to have more sensitive skin it is always a good idea to do a small test on your inner arm for 24 hours to see if your body reacts. Many products suggest a skin test first, so always read the entire use instruction.The link posted below is to Environmental Working Group which rates the safety of product ingredients as well as their potential as an allergen.

Hydroquinone can be quite irritating. Redness is common if too much is used.  This redness will fade over time, but use a non-comedogenic moisturizer and sunscreen to protect the area.
