Is there a reason for choosing one method over another? Does the research support one method of PRP administration over the other? Does the research available show equal efficacy with both methods? Pros and cons of choosing one method over another?
Answer: PRP microneedle vs. injection The study performed with the Eclipse system used the injection technique. Most physicians use the injection technique now. The microneedle technique makes sense and is certainly an option, but there is no study that I am aware of which directly compares the two techniques to see which is better.

Answer: Hair Loss -- PRP, Progesterone, Stem Cells/ACELL, Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUE), Spironolactone or Finasteride, Rogaine This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: PRP protocol using injection vs. Micro-needling? Englewood For years, micro-needling was the technique to deliver PRP. During that time, increases in the density of hair growth and size of hair shaft average between 4 and 10%. Since the subdermal injection technique has been utilized, Studies have shown between 25 and 30% increase in hair density and 25 to 30% increase in size of hair shaft . (Haushaur) . Injection of the PRP in the subdermal or deep dermal area puts the PRP closer to the base of the follicular unit where it can be effective. It also allows for greater spread of the growth factors. Answer: PRP and Microneedling As with many of the procedures utilizing PRP, there is no absolute standard of care. Many will apply PRP topically allowing for absorption via portals created by microneedling while others will inject and still others will employ a combination of both techniques. Ultimately, the goal is to deliver growth factors to the site of injury/inflammation promoting rejuvenation. Without good randomized data, it remains unclear which approach is best. It is likely that the difference between the approaches is negligible as long as the PRP is delivered where it is needed most (either topically or via direct injection or both). As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).Donovan Rosas MD Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery Member: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons RealSelf Verified Member RealSelf Top 100 RealSelf Hall of Fame

Answer: PRP Injections versus Microneedling Hello and thank you for your question. Personally I use and prefer injections because it goes deeper into the skin. Depending on where you get PRP, not everyone can administer the injections. I’m not sure if there is research showing these results, but it is my preference. Best wishes.Dr. T
