Hello, I am 24 years old and have a bmi of 16.5 (I'm 5'2" and weight 90 pounds) and was wondering if this will affect me if I were to get rhinoplasty?? With my weight, will this cause more complications? I am not anorexic, I've weighed 90 pounds since after puberty. If I'm able to have the procedure through local anesthesia, would there be less risks for me, or would the risks be the same as going under general anesthesia since i'm underweight? Thanks.

Answer: Plastic Surgery complications from being underweight?
Dear GGM1968,
Thank you for submitting your clinical concerns and
problems. The two previous rhinoplasties
undoubtedly have some anatomic and functional correlation to your current symptomatology. Assuming that you are not performing any sort
of endonasal abusive behaviour, such as cocaine or...
Generally speaking, it can take 6 to 12 months to completely heal after surgery. Please keep in touch with your surgeon or his/her clinical team to discuss your ongoing concerns.
The likelihood of you having disrupted the results of your procedure are minimal. You likely have nothing to worry about. You should call your surgeons office tomorrow during working hours and let them know about it for safe measure.
