I simply wanted my hump downsized and straightened out and instead my surgeon seems to have over dissected my hump and somehow shortened my entire nose. I feel like it doesn't look proportionate. He also seems to have shortened the tip. I also feel pain at the bridge when I lay on my side and sit back up or when I smile with my teeth. It feels like there's pressure where my hump used to be. I'm a month and a half post op.
Answer: Rhinoplasty result Your nose looks how I would expect shortly after surgery. The tip will almost definitely drop down to where it was before but it often takes many months. Otherwise it looks good. If it is of any help I see this in many of my patients but in the long run nobody has ever complained that I made the nose too short. They always drop down.

Answer: Nose after rhinoplasty, is it too short? Dear taniazednanreh13,I would give your nose time to heal, it needs at least another 5 months, maybe even longerThe pain will also improve over timeThere really is not much you can do about it right now, and once all the swelling goes down, it may not look as shortIt looks like you may have some swelling at the root of your nose and once this goes down, it will look longerDr. Nima Member, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon Board Certified in Head and Neck Surgery

Answer: Correcting a scooped bridge Dear Tania, During the healing process, the bridge of your nose will go through many different appearances as the swelling subsides and the healing tissue remodels to its final thickness. This may result in a less scooped look as time goes on, but in some cases may result in more of a scoop. While some patients specifically request a scooped nose, it is my experience that most people undergoing rhinoplasty are now looking for more natural looking bridge profiles. I would suggest you discuss with your surgeon how your specific procedure was performed, as during the one month period it is very difficult to determine the final shape your nose will have once healed.

Answer: Rhinoplasty results Thank you for your photo. Don't worry. It is too early to tell only 1.5 months after surgery. Your swelling is still quite significant and the tissues have not yet relaxed. I find that the nose often looks more pulled up and shorter in the first few months after rhinoplasty due to the swelling and tightness of the skin. As the inflammation subsides and the skin relaxes, the nose lengthens back out and the true length can be assessed at that time. Hope this helps!Johnson C.
