Mole removal recovery/downtime.Can I use silicone gel sheeting?? (photos)

Question

Hi I'm in the midst of getting my mole removed by laser. I have to come back every two weeks for sessions. I was wondering if it was ok to use silicone gel to help with the redness/scarring? How is it looking so far by the way??? I'm very anxious so any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Our office specializes in non-surgical mole removal.

I suggest a silicone based scar gel with growth factors.  this may require surgical removal but laser can be tried first.  Best, Dr. Emer.

SIlicone gel is good, but sunscreen and sunprotection are probably even more important for a good outcome.  With regard to the removal technique, what type of laser is being used to remove your mole.  This can be tried first, but often, true moles need to be removed with an excision procedure, and then all of the mole can be removed, and it can also be tested to make sure it is in no way atypical.Hope this helps.
