My lip seems to cover my teeth when I smile, unless I do a very unnatural smile like the second photo.

The key to a lip lift is not its effect on smiling, it is for at rest.  How do your lips look when you are not smiling?  If your mouth, while slightly open, doesn't show much or any of your upper teeth then it is likely a good solution.  Takes 30 minutes in the office.

A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. You may be a candidate for this technique.

A subnasal lip lift can improve tooth show and it is one of the reasons people choose to have the surgery. However, there must be a minimum of remaining skin so a surgeon will need to measure the skin of your upper lip in order to see if you are a candidate for the surgery.
