Lip Deformity After Mucocele Removal. What procedures are available to fix this problem? (Photo)

Unfortunately, it is fairly common to leave a firm "bump" in the lip after removing a mucocele. It is hard to say whether this is just scar tissue or another mucocele resulting from transecting mucous gland ducts. The only solution would be a careful re-excision with additional injections of steroid and 5 FU.

It appears to me that a surgical excision of the bump on your lower lip could improve the asymmetry that you see.  An examination of your lip would be needed to try and determine if the bump is a scar or recurrent mucocele.  In either case, surgical excision should be able to improve the issue.

Thank you for your photo. Any divets or deformities left after mucocele excision can be corrected with injectable lip filler. It is also possible that the bump is some residual mucocele gland in your lip which may also have to be removed to make the area appear more smooth. Hope this helps!Johnson C.
