I get dark spots after shaving my legs and I have very fine hair on my chest. I can notice if I look closely I get black/red spots where the hair grows from on my chest. Will this go on it's own? Or will laser help get rid of them permanently or only reduce their appearance? Is there a specific laser good for this? I have a tan/olive skin type.

Answer: Does laser hair removal make hair follicles that are dark less visible or even completely remove them?
Thank you for your question. Laser Hair Removal can cause irritation afterwards. It is impossible to know without seeing you if that is what you are experiencing. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeons Office for more detailed information about Laser Hair Removal.
It sounds like you should be fine. You typically want to avoid the sun for about two weeks prior to laser hair removal and for two weeks after. The danger is hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation due to the laser targeting the melanin in skin which is increased after being in the sun. Check with...
I would use Luminase and Exfolase creams followed by fractional laser if you have discoloration from the laser that lasts more than a month.Best, Dr. Karamanoukian#Realself100 Surgeon
